Competition Rules

1、Originality: All entries must be completed independently by the participant. No submissions of others' works are allowed. Participants may use their own previous competition works.

2、Content Restrictions: All entries must not contain obscene, violent, sexual, defamatory, inappropriate, or controversial content. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification without prior notice.

3、Personal Data Use: Personal information provided by participants will only be used for competition contact purposes and to distribute competition notifications.

4、Accuracy of Information: Participants must ensure that their personal information is accurate. The organizers will not be responsible for any errors.

5、Acceptance of Terms: By submitting their entries, participants agree to all competition terms and conditions. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant believed to have violated any competition rules, and there will be no appeals process.

Scoring Criteria

  • Knowledge Accuracy and Logical Coherence:Accurately use core math knowledge (algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics) for this online competition. Ensure strict logic in every step—from knowledge application to reasoning and conclusion—with no errors or gaps. For proofs and analyses, grasp key concepts like mathematical modeling and logical deduction, and follow systematic mathematical thinking.

  • Method Application and Skill Demonstration: Use problem-specific strategies (e.g., factorization for algebra, auxiliary lines for geometry, classified counting for combinatorics) in this online exam setting. Analyze data with statistical tools and integrate interdisciplinary thinking for complex problems. Show solid math literacy by applying theorems accurately and simplifying calculations efficiently, matching the difficulty levels of HMMT November (AMC10/12–AIME) and February (AIME–USAMO) tournaments.

  • Follow HMMT’s standards for online submission: write formula derivations and proofs with precise mathematical symbols and terms. Keep language concise, professional, and easy to understand. For individual contests, present answers clearly; for team proof contests, structure responses with given conditions, reasoning, and conclusions, and label each step’s basis to facilitate online grading.

  • In-depth Understanding and Expansion Innovation: Go beyond basic problem-solving to explore the mathematical principles and real-world applications behind questions in this online tournament. Link math concepts to practical scenarios (e.g., combinatorial counting for real-world optimization) and propose innovative ideas like integrating advanced math into youth education to showcase flexible knowledge application.
