Scoring Criteria

  • Knowledge Accuracy and Logical Coherence: When answering questions, accurately apply core scientific knowledge points in geography, including physical geography principles (e.g., climate formation mechanisms, landform evolution laws), human geography theories (e.g., urban-rural development models, industrial layout principles), and regional geography characteristics. Ensure logically rigorous problem-solving ideas, with every step—from elaborating geographical theories, field investigation norms, and spatial data analysis methods to the entire reasoning process and final conclusion—closely linked, free of obvious knowledge errors or logical flaws. For discussion questions (e.g., discussing the impact of climate change on coastal ecosystems) and analysis questions (e.g., analyzing the rationality of regional transportation network planning), demonstrate a precise understanding of scientific concepts such as "control variable analysis" and "geospatial modeling". The argumentation process should be hierarchical and progressive, conforming to the systematic development logic of geography, to ensure the accuracy and coherence of the entire answering process.

  • Method Application and Skill Demonstration: Skillfully apply appropriate geographical learning and analysis methods. In field investigation design questions, correctly use scientific research methods such as the comparative analysis method and spatial induction method, similar to accurately operating professional geographical survey instruments (e.g., GIS mapping tools, GPS receivers, meteorological observation equipment). In spatial data analysis questions, use appropriate statistical tools and logical reasoning skills, such as regional economic development trend analysis, judgment of correlation between resource distribution and human activities, and interpretation of remote sensing image data. When dealing with interdisciplinary problems, skillfully integrate knowledge from multiple scientific fields (geography, environmental science, economics, sociology, etc.) for comprehensive analysis. The operation process should be smooth and natural, just like a professional geographer conducting field research, demonstrating solid subject literacy and skill mastery, and making the problem-solving process efficient and accurate.

  • Answering Standards and Expression Presentation: Present answers in a standardized manner. In formula derivation (e.g., population growth rate calculation) or field investigation steps, expressions must be accurate and in line with geographical scientific norms. The text should be concise, clear, professional and appropriate, complying with the question’s format and standard requirements. For scientific essay questions, the structure should include a clear introduction, body and conclusion. Use language suitable for the theme and young participant audience, avoiding overly obscure professional geographical terms. When elaborating viewpoints, maintain a calm and rigorous attitude like a scientific researcher presenting findings, communicating with examiners through precise language and typical geographical cases (such as the Three Gorges Project’s comprehensive benefits, the sustainable development model of the European Union’s regional integration, and the ecological protection project of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau), showing good control over the answering process.

  • In-depth Understanding and Expansion Innovation: Develop a deep understanding of the principles behind geographical knowledge and their practical application scenarios. Beyond solving superficial problems (e.g., defining geographical concepts or outlining basic investigation steps), expand answers by combining real-world situations, putting forward innovative insights or feasible solutions. For example, in questions about the development of regional ecological civilization, deeply explore multiple influencing factors behind the phenomenon, such as technological bottlenecks in environmental governance, policy support for green development, and the impact of human activities on regional ecological security. Propose unique ideas for promoting geographical science and sustainable development concepts among global youth, such as integrating cutting-edge geographical research into youth environmental education programs. This approach can resonate with examiners, demonstrating in-depth mastery and flexible application of geographical knowledge.
