Competition Content
-
In terms of performing means and equipment, contestants can utilize various music styles and techniques, including but not limited to classical music, jazz, pop, rock, folk music, and improvisational performance. They can also make use of traditional acoustic instruments (e.g., violins, flutes, guitars, percussion) for performance, or opt for digital music production tools, electronic instruments, and sound effects. Whether it's solo performances, duets, small ensembles, or vocal-instrumental collaborations, contestants are encouraged to create their works in any form, fully unleashing their personal strengths and creativity.
-
Entrants should submit their works in the form of high-quality audio or video files. The audio should ensure clear and undistorted sound, accurately capturing the details of instrument tones, vocal timbres, and musical layers. The video (if submitted) should clearly capture the entire performance, including the performers' playing/singing techniques, stage presence, interactions between members in group performances, and any relevant visual elements. If the performance features special musical effects, such as complex harmonies, improvisational variations, unique playing techniques (e.g., guitar fingerpicking, violin vibrato), or creative use of electronic sounds, it is advisable to present these aspects comprehensively. The audio format is limited to MP3, WAV, and the video format is limited to MP4, MOV. The file size should not exceed [100] MB (a suitable size limit can be set according to the actual situation).

Scoring Criteria
-
Music Composition and Arrangement: The overall music composition is well-structured. The arrangement of musical parts, whether in solo, duet, ensemble, or vocal-instrumental performances, is appropriate. The proportion of different elements such as melodies, harmonies, rhythms, and instrumental/vocal sections is accurate, with no obvious imbalance in the composition. The flow of the piece follows a logical progression, and transitions between different sections (e.g., verses to choruses, solo passages to ensemble segments) are smooth and cohesive.
-
Timbre and Dynamic Expression: The combination of instrumental and/or vocal timbres is harmonious, and the overall sound of the performance has a rich textural quality. Appropriate expressive techniques are used according to the theme and emotions of the piece, such as using dynamic gradients (e.g., soft to loud swells in orchestral sections, subtle volume shifts in vocal performances) to convey emotional changes and timbral contrasts (e.g., bright brass vs. mellow strings, belting vs. falsetto in vocals) to emphasize key musical moments. The transition of timbres across different sections or instrument groups is natural and seamless, enhancing the overall auditory experience.
-
Musical Skills and Technique Mastery: The performers’ execution is natural and expressive. They demonstrate mastery of various musical techniques, including instrumental proficiency (e.g., violin bow control, guitar fingerpicking, drum syncopation), vocal skills (e.g., pitch accuracy, breath control, vocal range), and ensemble coordination (e.g., timing precision, balance between parts). The execution of these techniques is polished, showing a high level of musical proficiency. Whether handling rapid melodic runs, complex harmonies, rhythmic syncopations, or improvisational variations, the performers maintain excellent control and precision.
-
Artistic Appeal and Emotional Resonance: The performers have a deep understanding of the piece’s theme and can fully integrate their emotions and interpretation into the performance. The music is engaging and expressive, capable of evoking strong emotional resonance in the audience—whether through the stirring intensity of a classical symphony, the heartfelt storytelling of a folk ballad, or the energetic vitality of a pop ensemble. Their stage presence (e.g., confident demeanor, connection with fellow performers, engagement with the “audience” in recorded formats) and commitment to the music’s spirit are also important aspects. The performance leaves a lasting and profound impression, effectively conveying the intended artistic concept and emotional core through skilled technique and authentic expression.
