Competition Content

  • In terms of performing means and equipment, contestants can utilize various Chinese martial arts styles and techniques, including but not limited to Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Baguazhang, and improvisational applications of routines. They can also make use of traditional martial arts setups for performance (e.g., empty-hand forms, standard weapons like swords, spears, or staffs) or opt for modern presentation tools (e.g., props that highlight martial arts characteristics without altering the core techniques). Whether it's solo performances, paired sparring routines, or group martial arts displays, contestants are encouraged to create their works in any form, fully unleashing their personal strengths and creativity.

  • Entrants should submit their works in the form of high-quality video files (audio is auxiliary, with clear sound of movements such as footwork and weapon swings). The video should ensure clear and undistorted visuals, capturing the entire performance, including the practitioner's stance, hand-eye coordination, force application, and overall momentum. If the performance features special martial arts techniques, such as precise stances, fluid transitions, power control (e.g., hard and soft force integration), or weapon-wielding skills (e.g., swordsmanship's agility, spear techniques' momentum), it is advisable to present these aspects comprehensively. The video format is limited to MP4, MOV. The file size should not exceed [100] MB (a suitable size limit can be set according to the actual situation).

4、Accuracy of Information: Participants must ensure that their personal information is accurate. The organizers will not be responsible for any errors.

Scoring Criteria

  • Martial Arts Routine Composition and Structure: The overall martial arts routine is well-structured. The arrangement of movements, whether in solo forms, paired routines, or group demonstrations, is appropriate. The proportion of different elements such as stances (e.g., horse stance, bow stance), attacks (e.g., punches, kicks), defenses (e.g., blocks, evasions), and transitions is accurate, with no obvious imbalance in the flow. The sequence of techniques follows logical progression, and transitions between different movements or sections are smooth and natural.

  • Technique Precision and Power Application: The execution of martial arts techniques is precise and powerful. Each movement adheres to the standards of the chosen style (e.g., the circular motions of Tai Chi, the linear strikes of Shaolin), with correct alignment, posture, and body mechanics. Appropriate force application is evident, whether it’s the controlled power of a slow Tai Chi form or the explosive energy in a Shaolin punch. The transition between soft and hard techniques (e.g., yielding in Tai Chi vs. assertive strikes in Wing Chun) is seamless, enhancing the overall authenticity of the performance.

  • Martial Arts Skills and Fluidity: The practitioner’s performance is natural and expressive. They demonstrate mastery of various martial arts skills, including footwork agility, hand-eye coordination, balance control (e.g., in high kicks or single-leg stances), and weapon handling (if applicable). The execution of complex sequences is smooth, with no hesitation or loss of form. Whether performing rapid combinations, intricate weapon maneuvers (e.g., sword spinning), or slow, meditative movements, the practitioner maintains consistent technique and flow.

  • Artistic Appeal and Cultural Connotation: The practitioner has a deep understanding of the martial art’s cultural roots and can integrate its philosophical essence into the performance. The movements are expressive, capable of conveying the spirit of the style (e.g., the calm focus of Tai Chi, the dynamic aggression of Southern Fist). Stage presence is strong, with confident posture, deliberate eye contact, and engagement with the imaginary opponent or audience. The performance leaves a lasting impression, effectively communicating the cultural heritage and artistic beauty of Chinese martial arts through precise technique and heartfelt interpretation.
