Competition Content

  • In terms of creative means and tools, contestants can utilize various writing styles and techniques, including but not limited to fiction, poetry, essays, scripts, and improvisational writing. They can also make use of traditional writing methods (such as handwritten drafts refined into digital text) or opt for digital writing tools and formatting features (e.g., hyperlinks in digital stories, interactive elements in creative nonfiction). Whether it's solo writing, collaborative storytelling, or themed writing collections, contestants are encouraged to create their works in any form, fully unleashing their personal strengths and creativity.

  • Entrants should submit their works in the form of high-quality text documents or video files (for spoken-word performances or writing process recordings). The text should be clear, well-formatted, and free of errors, while the video (if submitted) should clearly capture elements such as the writer’s expression during reading, the context of creation, or key details of the writing process. If the work features special writing techniques, such as narrative structure innovations, poetic rhyme schemes, or unique stylistic devices, it is advisable to present these aspects comprehensively (e.g., including annotations for complex literary techniques). The text format is limited to DOCX, PDF, and the video format is limited to MP4, MOV. The file size should not exceed [100] MB (a suitable size limit can be set according to the actual situation).

Scoring Criteria

  • Writing Composition and Structure: The overall writing work is well-structured. The arrangement of content, whether in solo works, collaborative pieces, or themed collections, is appropriate. The proportion of different elements such as plot (for narratives), arguments (for essays), imagery (for poetry), and conclusions is accurate, with no obvious imbalance in the composition. The flow of the work is logical, and transitions between paragraphs, chapters, or thematic shifts are smooth and coherent.

  • Stylistic Consistency and Language Nuance: The use of language style is consistent, and the overall tone of the work has a rich textual texture. Appropriate expressive techniques are employed according to the theme and emotions of the content, such as using diction gradients (from casual to formal) to reflect shifts in context and rhetorical contrasts (e.g., metaphor vs. literal description) to emphasize key ideas. The transition of language styles across different sections (e.g., from descriptive passages to dialogues in fiction) is natural and seamless, enhancing the overall reading experience.

  • Writing Skills and Craftsmanship: The writer’s work is natural and expressive. They demonstrate mastery of various writing techniques, such as narrative pacing, character development (for fiction), argumentative logic (for essays), poetic rhythm (for verse), and vocabulary precision. The execution of these techniques is polished, showing a high level of writing proficiency. Whether handling complex plot twists, nuanced emotional descriptions, or intricate thematic explorations, the writer maintains excellent control over language and structure.

  • Artistic Appeal: The writer has a deep understanding of the work’s theme and fully integrates their unique perspective and emotions into the creation. The work is engaging and thought-provoking, capable of evoking strong emotional or intellectual resonance in readers. Their voice—whether distinctive, lyrical, or persuasive—and connection with the audience (through relatable experiences or universal ideas) are also important aspects. The work leaves a lasting and profound impression, effectively conveying the intended artistic concept and message through skilled craftsmanship and authentic expression.
