The professional jury, composed of renowned Chinese martial arts masters, martial arts professors, and industry experts (including national martial arts champions, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage martial arts styles, and international martial arts judges), adhered to the principles of rigor, fairness, and transparency throughout multiple evaluation rounds. Judges assessed entries based on two core dimensions: martial arts craftsmanship (including technical proficiency in moves, precision in routine arrangement, and mastery of martial arts weapons or bare-hand techniques) and creative innovation (such as thematic depth in original routines, spiritual connotation in performances, and cross-style integration).

 

• Martial Arts Craftsmanship: Evaluations focused on the participants’ command of complex martial arts skills, such as the stability of stances in Tai Chi performances, the accuracy of strikes in Shaolin Boxing, or the coherence of routine structures in Wushu weapon performances (e.g., sword, staff, or spear).

• Creative Expression: Entries that reimagined classic martial arts routines (e.g., adapting traditional Wing Chun routines into modern competitive sets while preserving core principles) or debuted original pieces with cultural themes (e.g., Tai Chi routines depicting the harmony between man and nature or Shaolin routines telling stories of ancient heroes) stood out prominently.

• Cultural Fusion: Works that blended the softness of Tai Chi with the agility of Korean Taekwondo kicks, or integrated the power of Xingyiquan with the rhythm of Brazilian Capoeira, demonstrated exceptional cross-cultural martial arts artistry.

  • A routine design team combined the elegant sword techniques of Wudang Sword with modern stage lighting and music, creating an immersive performance that explores the integration of traditional martial arts and contemporary stage art.

  • A group of Shaolin martial artists merged the hard-hitting moves of Shaolin Hard Qigong with the fluidity of Japanese Aikido, delivering a dynamic performance that redefines the boundaries of martial arts expression.
